The CS-150 Racking Pad has long been proven to improve the efficiency of tripping pipe by reducing potential lost time and eliminating unnecessary risks.
CS-150 is a 100% solid urethane elastomer and is made of a higher density polymer than our standard traction pads. This custom formulation offers extreme hydrolytic stability, anti-fungal properties and ultraviolet stability. Fluid channels are molded directly into the design in one direction facilitating drainage and providing extra traction. These pads are built to withstand the compression and weight of all drill pipe. CS-150 resists the effects of invert and other corrosive drilling fluids.
With directional drilling becoming a prominent and important part in almost all drilling operations, efficiency needs to be a part of every operators play book. The historic method of racking pipe in birdbaths and on gator racks slows operations down when multiple pipe strings are in use.
By using the CS-150 Racking Pad, operations can be carried out more smoothly and eliminate the need to position pipe more cautiously on the pegs that are designed and spaced for only one size of pipe.
A perfect example of how this will improve operations is when a rig hand misses a racking peg - the operation becomes disrupted by them having (in most cases) to pick the pipe back up and re-positioning it, ultimately adding trip time. Not only does this add time, it increases the potential for an accident by disrupting the flow and potentially creating pinch hazards.
